How to Create, Assign, Remove

Custom Caller ID allows you to configure an unported, off-network phone number to be used as your Customer’s outbound Caller ID. The phone number(s) that you configure on the Custom Caller ID screen may then be selected by your customer as their Outgoing Caller ID on the Extension Detail screen.

Creating a New Customer Caller ID 

1. From the Custom Caller IDs screen, enter the desired number in the text box just below the feature description

  • Click the adjacent Add button.

2. The number(s) will appear in the list box just below the number entry text box.

Note: The number must be a valid 10-digit phone number, unported, and off-network. If the number you entered is not valid, you will receive an error message indicating so.

3. Check the check box to agree to the Terms and Conditions

  • Click the Save button.

4. You will see a system message indicating that the Custom Caller ID(s) was successfully saved.

Assigning a New Customer Caller ID 

  1. From the Extension List screen, click the Edit link for the desired Extension.
  • TheExtension Detail screen displays.

 2. In the Extension Details section, click the dropdown menu for the Outgoing Caller ID field.

  • Your Customer’s new Custom Caller ID appears in the list as a selection under the Custom Caller ID heading.

 3. Select the new Custom Caller ID in the menu list.

 4. Click the Save button.

  • You will see a system message indicating that the Extension info was successfully update.

Removing an Unassigned Custom Caller ID

A Custom Caller ID number that has not been assigned to an Extension can be removed as expected. If the number has already been assigned, refer to the steps in the last section below.

 1. Select the desired number in the list box.

 2. Click the Remove button.

 3. Check the check box to agree to the Terms and Conditions.

  • Click the Save button.

 4. You will see a system message indicating that the Custom Caller ID(s) was successfully saved

Removing an Assigned Custom Caller ID

If a Custom Caller ID has already been assigned to an Extension, it cannot be removed without a substitution. In this situation, follow the steps below.

 1.  Select the desired Custom Caller ID number in the list box.

 2.  Click the Remove button.

 3.  Check the check box to agree to the Terms and Conditions

 4.  Click the Save button

Note: A Warning dialog box will appear, indicating that the Custom Caller ID number you are attempting to remove is currently in use, and you must choose an available number to use in its place.

 5. Click the dropdown menu in the Warning dialog box.

  • The menu will display available numbers, which may include Extensions and Custom Caller IDs.

 6. Select an available number in the list.

 7. Click the Save button in the Warning dialog box.

  • You will see a system message indicating that the Custom Caller ID(s) was successfully saved
