Factory Reset a Polycom VVX Phone

Polycom Phone Factory Reset Instructions

Default Password

The default admin password for Polycom phones is 456. If this does not work, you may need to factory-reset the phone using the steps below.

1. Locate and Note the MAC Address

• Find the MAC address (serial number) on the rear/bottom of the phone, e.g. 0004F2xxxxxx.

• Alternatively, view it onscreen:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Select Status → Platform → Phone

Write down this MAC address before proceeding.

2. Restart the Phone

1. Power down the phone (unplug it).
2. Count to 10.
3. Plug it back in to power up.

3. Enter BootROM/Updater Mode

You have 5-10 seconds during the BootROM countdown to initiate reset:

1. When the phone displays a countdown, press and hold the key combination for your model (see below).
2. If you see “Loading application” with no countdown, select Cancel to reveal the countdown timer.

Key Combinations by Model

• SoundPoint IP 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430, 450; SoundStation IP 5000, 7000; SoundStation Duo Press and hold 1 + 3 + 5 + 7

• SoundPoint IP 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, 650; VVX 1500 Press and hold 4 + 6 + 8 + *

• SoundStation IP 6000 Press and hold 6 + 8 + *

• VVX 300, 310, 400, 410, 500, 600 Press and hold 1 + 3 + 5

Continue holding until prompted for the admin password.

4. Enter the Admin Password

1. Type the MAC address you noted earlier (not case-sensitive).

2. Convert each hexadecimal character to its numeric-key equivalent:

   • Example: For 0004f212ab34, enter 0004 3 3 3 2 2 2 2 3 4

3. To toggle between alpha and numeric modes:

   • SoundPoint IP: Press # or the on-screen 1 / A / a button.
   • VVX-series: Press Mode.

5. Log In and Reconfigure

• After reset, log in with the default admin password:

  456

• Proceed to configure your phone as needed.
