Configure a Meraki Switch for VoIP
This guide outlines recommended configurations for a Meraki MS switch to prioritize and separate VoIP traffic, ensuring optimal call quality.
- Configure switch ports as access ports.
- Assign Data and Voice VLANs.
- Enable and configure QoS settings.
1. Configuring Access Ports
Section titled “1. Configuring Access Ports”-
In the Meraki Dashboard, navigate to Configure > Switch > Ports.

Select the port to modify.

Change Type to access.

Save your changes.

2. Configure Data and Voice VLANs
Section titled “2. Configure Data and Voice VLANs”- Ensure the port is set to access mode.
- Enter your Data VLAN ID.
- Enter your Voice VLAN ID.
- Save your settings.

3. Configure QoS Settings
Section titled “3. Configure QoS Settings”- In the Meraki Dashboard, go to Configure > Switch Settings.
- Scroll to the Quality of Service section.
- Enable QoS and add a rule for Voice VLAN (e.g., VLAN 20).
- Save the configuration.


These settings ensure that voice packets are tagged and prioritized across your network, reducing latency and improving call reliability.
